This land has been in the hands of a family for years - a family of architects.
Each season the architects and landscape architects of SAW // Spiegel Aihara Workshop of visit this site, studying view lines, admiring the dappled light as it falls on the snow-covered rock formations, and hiking along the ridges amongst evergreens. We have been designing this property in our imaginations for years, and now have developed this ideas into an innovative DESIGN CONCEPT for a multifaceted estate for the first time. This design is intended to give a visionary buyer an idea of the potential of this property, a beautiful home that can accommodate up to three family groups with common living and dining space, a residence that connects you with the outdoors through sweeping views and a unique covered roof deck with fireplace.
And while purchase of the land does not require the execution of this concept, we certainly suggest it. SAW // Spiegel Aihara Workshop would be happy to work with you should you wish to proceed!
We've proposed a 5,000sf 6 bedroom, 3 bath, 2 half-bath house designed for large family gatherings, with distinct wings for privacy and individual activities, and large centrally located living spaces to bring everyone together. On the other hand, sometimes you may want to come to Tahoe on your own. Or come with a group of friends. Or even invite other families up. The house is also designed to function as a series of independent suites that can be closed off from one another as desired. Each suite has dedicated bedrooms (1, 2, or 3), a bathroom or two, and a living space. The shared communal space houses group amenities and allows for whatever amount of interaction you desire.
The house design concept is situated to take advantage of the mountain views from the top of a hillside perch. The living area floats above the hillside, supported by the three guest suites. These gathering spaces perch you above the trees, as you sit fireside looking through expansive floor to ceiling windows. A large semi-covered roof deck sits above the living area, with access from each suite. Here you will find a sauna, exercise room, outdoor fireplace, dining area, and hot tub.
25 acres of hillside land leaves much to be explored. A variety of views, clearings, dense forested areas, and rock outcroppings call for all sorts of experiences. We've identified a number of these opportunities and propose a master plan that links a series of "accessory" pavilions spread throughout the property, connected through a network of paths to take full advantage of the land. These Pavilions include a guest cottage, sledding ramp, camping platform, lookout tower, swimming pool, and jogging path.
The floor plan of the main building is highly flexible, with numerous configurations possible for any given weekend, oriented for extended group activities or moment of quiet repose.
